Restoring Medicare Choices for Seniors
Medicare Advantage has a proven record of success and is popular with seniors because it provides better services, a higher quality of care, and increased care coordination. The Medicare Beneficiary Preservation of Choice Act restores the open enrollment period and empowers seniors to choose the health care plan that best meets their needs.

At a House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health hearing entitled, “Medicare Advantage: What Beneficiaries Should Expect Under the President’s Health Care Law,” Congressman Joe Pitts [PA-16] noted that, “[…] there are several existing reform proposals for Medicare Advantage that merit further discussion and feedback. Concepts like […] bipartisan policies such as those introduced by Representative Keith Rothfus of Pennsylvania that would restore choices for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries and not limit their options to traditional FFS (fee for service) or their existing plans.” Congressman Pitts is the Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health.
Congressman Michael Burgess [TX-26] noted during the hearing that restoring the Medicare Advantage open enrollment period, which has been previously proposed, was a “reasonable suggestion” that he thought the Committee could support. Congressman Burgess is the Vice Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health.
