Rothfus Responds to House-Passed Budget Agreement
WASHINGTON – Congressman Keith Rothfus (PA-12) responds to the House-passed budget agreement that increases the existing statutory budget caps by roughly $300 billion over the next two years:
“In a year when we are restoring military funding to needed levels and allocating nearly $90 billion in disaster relief, I do not believe it is the time to also increase domestic discretionary spending by 12 percent,” said Congressman Rothfus. “Over the past several months, I have voted to increase military spending and to provide relief to those affected by disasters. It is regrettable that, with this bill, the taxpayers and future generations are being asked to pay an extra $120 billion before we can fund defense and disaster relief. We cannot continue to pass to our children the tab for runaway spending. I hope my colleagues will one day soon begin the hard work of balancing our budget just as families across the country do."
