Rothfus Remarks On House Education Reform Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. –Congressman Keith Rothfus [PA-12] released the following statement on H.R. 5, the Student Success Act:
“I’ve heard a lot of frustration from teachers, principals, parents and students over the negative impacts of federal regulations on local schools,” said Congressman Rothfus. “Rules handed down from Washington have imposed unfair testing burdens on students and taken local control away from the people best equipped to make decisions that suit students’ needs.
“I commend Chairman Kline and the Education and Workforce Committee for introducing a bill that begins to devolve federal control over K-12 education policy. However, the failure of a key amendment that would have given states control over how to use federal education funding caused me to ultimately oppose this bill.”
