Rothfus’ Pro-Veterans, Bipartisan Bill Advances
WASHINGTON -- Congressman Keith Rothfus (PA-12) issued the following statement after the Subcommittee on Federal Lands unanimously passed his bill, the Free Veterans from Fees Act (H.R. 3997):
Throughout the year, veteran groups visit national war memorials to be honored and take part in related commemorative events that require special use permits. H.R. 3997 would waive the application fee required for special use permits for any veteran demonstration or special event at a federal war memorial.
“I thank the members on the Subcommittee on Federal Lands, especially Chairman Tom McClintock (CA-4), for their unanimous support for my bipartisan bill, the Free Veterans from Fees Act (H.R. 3997),” said Congressman Rothfus. “We have a solemn obligation to stand with our veterans. This bill is about fostering a culture in which all veterans are valued for their service and sacrifice to our country. The least we can do is to make it easier for veterans and their families to visit national war memorials so they can honor the contributions of our men and women in uniform.”
