Rothfus Calls for the Senate to Fully Fund Our Troops
WASHINGTON – Congressman Keith Rothfus (PA-12) released the following statement after the House passed legislation to fund the Department of Defense for the 2018 Fiscal Year. This Resolution has passed the House twice already but has not yet been considered in the Senate.
“Last summer, the House passed all 12 appropriations bills before the FY 2018 Fiscal Year started on October 1, 2017,” said Congressman Rothfus. “In those bills we appropriated the funds necessary to equip our military women and men with the resources they need to defend this country in the face of global threats. However, our service members have been routinely denied access to these resources as Senate Democrats have been holding back the full funding of our defenses. I am pleased to see this bill pass with bipartisan support and hope to see Senate Democrats uphold their duty to provide for our men and women in uniform.”
Rothfus Calls on Senate to Fully Fund Our Troops.
Rothfus: “ …We appropriated the funds necessary to equip our service members with the resources they need to defend this country. In the face of threats from North Korea, china, Russia, al Qaeda, ISIS, Iran, cyber threats just to name a few. Yet our service members have been routinely denied access to these resources as Senate Democrats have been holding back the full funding of our armed services. In doing so, they ask our service members to go into battle with aging equipment and insufficient resources, risking their lives to defend America. Our men and women in uniform haven't even had a modest pay raise in a very long time. I had that opportunity at the end of last year to [visit our troops overseas and] look into the young faces of our men and women over there. They are expecting us to do this.”
