The new Republican majority was sworn in over one hundred days ago. Our goal is to provide Americans the freedom to innovate and achieve a better life for their families. The VA issued $2,827,377 in bonuses to executives overlooking, and in some cases, fostering mismanagement and neglect at VA facilities. This money is better spent providing veterans with first-rate care they earned, and it is unconscionable to allow bonuses for those who failed our veterans.
The House passed legislation that repeals the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. After we were lied to about the real costs of this law, Congress is intent on finding a better way forward that works for every American.
A bill I introduced will give more than 16 million seniors enrolled in Medicare Advantage the freedom to switch plans if their current coverage doesn't meet their needs. In today’s ever changing health care environment, giving seniors the ability to test-drive their plans and make changes is common-sense.
The House passed important legislation to fulfill our promise to the American people to responsibly fund our Homeland Security Department while also stopping President Obama's unconstitutional immigration actions.

At the beginning of the last century, a Godless, totalitarian ideology moved from theory to practice and a global war against freedom began when Communists took over Russia.
In the following decades, the ideology spread through the mainland of China, across the ocean to Cuba, and into Vietnam.
Whether in elected office, in appointed office, or in career civil service, anyone whose salary is paid for with taxpayer dollars works for the public.
Do you remember the days when the country had a healthy, vibrant economy when there were more opportunities and people were actually getting ahead? When getting a raise was a regular event? How about when all the kids in the neighborhood were able to find good jobs right after high school or college?
Whether fighting diabetes or heart disease, developing vaccines, or helping people walk again with robotic limbs, Western Pennsylvania doctors, nurses, and researchers are at the forefront of medical innovation. Their work saves lives, and we can be proud that our region’s universities, hospitals, and laboratories are second to none.
During August, I logged thousands of miles traveling throughout Western Pennsylvania and I heard from the boss in communities from Ambridge to McCandless to Johnstown and lots of stops in between. A lot of folks are facing the same issues. Gas, grocery and health care bills are all going up but people are not seeing their incomes go up to help pay for those bills.
Western Pennsylvania is home to many veterans. Joining together as a community to recognize and thank local veterans at events across Pennsylvania’s Twelfth Congressional District is one of the most solemn honors of my job. Recently we had tremendous events at a D-Day Commemoration Ceremony and a Military and Veterans Appreciation Event.
What was your first job? Some of my first jobs as a teenager were delivering newspapers, bagging groceries, and flipping hamburgers and working the drive-through at McDonalds.
