More on Veterans Issues
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Keith Rothfus [PA-12] and over one hundred sixty colleagues today sent a bipartisan letter to President Obama urging him to take action to address and resolve the Department of Veterans’ Affairs disability claims backlog.
Rothfus today met with officials at the VA Claims Processing Center in Pittsburgh to express his concern with the backlog and to learn more about what is being done locally to address the situation. He also conveyed his continued commitment to doing what he can to help Western Pennsylvania veterans.
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Keith Rothfus [PA-12] today welcomed and honored local veterans of World War II and the Korean War from Western Pennsylvania at the National World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.
“It was a tremendous honor and privilege to welcome our local World War II and Korean War veterans to our nation’s capital today,” said Rothfus. “These men and women have given much to protect our nation and defend our freedom. I appreciated the opportunity to convey my sincere thanks and appreciation for their service and sacrifice.”
Veterans Affairs union leaders on Thursday expressed outrage over performance bonuses awarded to top VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System leaders amid a deadly outbreak of Legionnaires' disease at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System.
“I was shocked,” Kathi Dahl, president of the American Federation of Government Employees Local 2028, said about the five-figure bonuses that were first reported in the Tribune-Review. The local union represents about 2,500 employees at the VA Oakland and O'Hara facilities.
